My word for 2015

Rather than come up with a bunch of resolutions for the new year, most of which will end up being forgotten by mid-January, I’ve decided that I’m going to have a word of the year instead.
create

I want 2015 to be filled with more creativity. I want to get out and take more photos. I want to teach myself how to sketch (inspired by the fabulous architectural sketches of Dan Hogman

Along with some workbooks from Sketch Workshop. Should be fun.

I want to write more, and finish some of the pieces I’ve been playing around with over the past couple of years.

I’m still noodling with ideas. Maybe I’ll have a monthly ‘so, what did I create this month?’ roundup. A set of challenges – seven days taking photos with one lens on a single theme, a month of daily sketches, blog posts written on post-it notes.

It’ll be fun. Who’s with me?

  1. Two years ago I bought a book called Bento’s Sketchbook by John Berger (I thought it was just last year but checking I discover it was Jan 2013) with the intention of doing more drawing, and learning about drawing, maybe I will make this a starting point. I love your idea of a ‘what have I created’ roundup. Some good advice I did read about new year resolutions the other day was to start with small specific goals rather than aiming high, to ease yourself in to new things. I am planning to try some new Coursera courses and stick with them, having done several in 2013 but failed to stick with any that I started this year. Good luck with your ‘Create’ year, I look forward to seeing your sketches.
